POLYETHYLENE

Also known as...

PE300 / PE500 / PE1000 / PE4 / LDPE / HDPE / UHMWPE / PE-HD / Tivar / Polystone E/G/D/M, Tecafine

Available colours...

Full range of colours available in many sheet thicknesses. Natural / Black / Blue / Red / Green / Yellow / Orange / Burgandy. Regen available in confetti grade

Applications...

Food applications (cutting boards), Wear strips and pads, liners, bumpers, frames, chain guides

Features...

Low cost but high perfoming material which has food approval, and exhibits chemical resistance. The material is non toxic, and is available in a large range of colours from 10mm thick and above. Polyethylene has excellent wear properties in lower load environments, and higher grades such as UHMWPE perform well in these scenarios. The material has low weight and is buoyant, which makes it a popular choice for underwater applications. Polyethylene has good impact strength (no break on impact).

Temperature range...

PE300: -50C to +80C / PE500: -100C to +80C / PE1000: -260C to +80C

Cost...

LOW

Misc info...

Higher grades have improved wear resistance. Can be welded and thermoformed. Note: High load wear applications are unsuitable. Material difficult to machine to tight tolerances.

Range...

Rod 10mm dia to 500mm dia, and larger on request. / Sheet from 1mm thick up to 150mm thick as standard - thicker sheets on request, sizes 2000 x 1000mm and 3000 x 1500mm and 3000 x 1250mm dependent on grade. Thicker sections can be welded from multiple blocks / Hollow bar from 30 od to 200 od, various ID's / Pressure Pipe in wide range of sizes.
